Seattle Girls' School Announces 2007 Grace Hopper Awards Winners

Seattle, WA: Seattle Girls' School has announced the recipients of the 2007 Grace Hopper Awards.  Winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award is Dr. Nalini Nadkarni, a faculty member at The Evergreen State College and a pioneer in the field of forest canopy research.  The recipient of the Exemplary Leadership Award is Carolyn Corvi, Vice President and General Manager of Airline Programs for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.  These wonderful women will be honored at the Fifth Annual Grace Hopper Awards Luncheon on May 22, 2007 at the Westin Seattle.

Unique to this year's program, a special Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented in honor of Susan Butcher, champion dog-sled racer and four-time Iditarod winner.  Butcher lost her courageous battle with cancer in August 2006 but used her fame to initiate and inspire numerous bone marrow drives through the state of Alaska and the Northwest.

The Grace Hopper Awards Luncheon is an annual event that honors exemplary women leaders in our community who provide SGS girls with positive and encouraging role models.  SGS is committed to increasing access to our highly effective educational experience to students with diverse socio-economic backgrounds.  The Annual Grace Hopper Awards Luncheon raises funds to support our need-based financial aid program, which provides scholarships for over thirty percent of SGS students.

Everyone is welcome at this exciting community event.  If you would like additional information about the event, would like to serve as a table captain, or be a table sponsor, please contact Dani Reynaud at dareynaud@seattlegirlsschool.org or by phone at 206-709-2228, ext. 208.
