Tuition and Fees Tuition and fees are set by the Board of Trustees on a yearly basis. The annual tuition for the 2007-2008 school year is $17,600 and is projected to rise for the 2008-2009 school year. In addition, a yearly supplies fee (currently $650) is required. Other fees, including those for technological equipment and activities, may also be assessed. Financial Aid Because Seattle Girls' School was created with the goal that the school be accessible to all - not just those who can pay - and because the school prides itself on its commitment to economic diversity, the Board of Trustees has committed to helping 30% of the student body with need-based financial aid. Based on demonstrated need, SGS financial aid awards range from approximately 10% to 90% of tuition. Families whose needs are determined to include other expenses such as computers, school trips, etc. would have those needs also met on a case by case basis and in proportion to their financial aid award. For the 2007-2008 school year, 32% of the student body is receiving need based financial aid, and the average award is $12,423. The Financial Aid Process and Calendar In order to be considered for financial aid, families will need to submit (1) an SGS Financial Aid Form, (2) copies of 2005 and 2006 tax forms, and (3) the SSS Financial Aid Form. SSS is a national organization that works with independent schools to provide an analysis of a family's finances and determine a suggested contribution for educational expenses. SGS considers all three pieces of financial aid information before determining awards.
