The Great
Bearville Ferry Challenge
THE CHALLENGE
Design a ferry that will carry gummi bears across a ³sea² of
straws.
Using only the materials provided. Your goal is to get as many
gummi bears the greatest distance possible.
THE
GUIDELINES
Your
Ferry should:
-Carry a
minimum of 5 bears.
-Travel a
minimum distance of one foot.
HINT:
Donıt use too many straws when constructing your ferry or you wonıt have enough
to make your ³sea.²
At the
end of your engineering session, you will give a presentation about your ferry
designs. Please make sure that each person in your group speaks.
THE
MATERIALS (for each team):
-1/4 deck
of playing cards
- Gummi
Bears
- 25
drinking straws
- 1 roll
of tape
- 3 pairs
of scissors
