The Great Gummi SailCar
Challenge
Congratulations! Youčre an engineering team working
at GummyGuys'n'Gals, Inc. You have been given a breezy task. Read on to find out the details...
Seattle is great for water fun. On the coastline and full of lakes, the
city has a large number of ports and docks for all kinds of water vehicles.
Sadly, Gummi Bears have a hard time with water – they melt away or bloat
up! In order to have the same
opportunities for fun on dry, safe ground, the Gummi Sailor-Wannabe Club
commissions you to design and build a sailing car to take advantage of those
breezy, sunny, Seattle Summers.
Make a Bear SailCar to
hold as many Gummi sailors as far as possible with 10 seconds of
wind
Your Team Design Presentation Should:
-Include each person
speaking
-Announce the name for
your Bear SailCar
-Discuss how your team
arrived at your design
Your Gummi SailCar
Should:
-Be made only of provided
materials
-Move with wind power (provided
by 1 team member, who can move with the car to be close to the sail)
-Be touched only to
upright the car (in case of a tip-over) or to reposition the car (in case of a
spin-out)
