Next Schools

Helping 8th Grade Families

The goal of our Next Schools program is to help all 8th grade families through the process of choosing their next schools with confidence and success!

The SGS Next Schools Program:
  • Begins with a spring information night to provide an overview of the program and highlight key points throughout the summer and fall to support families.
  • Provides students and parents/guardians with general information about the high school admission process at application schools and assistance in navigating back to neighborhood public schools.
  • Access for individual meetings for students and parents/guardians to talk through the process.
  • Director of Enrollment Management and Assistant Head of School advocate for students in the application process with area independent and parochial schools.
  • SSAT Test Prep and SSAT Practice Test options available.
8th Grade Pathways Class:
  • Teaches the art of networking and cultivating interpersonal relationships.
  • Provides dedicated 1:1 guidance to prepare students for high school and beyond.
  • Creates opportunities for real-world application of learned skills.
  • Broadens horizons through engaging guest speaker sessions, exploring diverse career paths.
  • Fosters social and emotional learning to support students on their journey beyond high school.
