Community Association of Parents

Meet CAP, our Community Association of Parents

SGS welcomes and supports parental involvement, and encourages parents to partner with SGS in support of their daughter’s educational experience. This is why all SGS parents/guardians are members of the Community Association of Parents (CAP). CAP is a 100% volunteer organization, and exists to further the school mission by supporting the efforts of the faculty and staff, strengthening the school + family community, and extending the reach of SGS to the broader Seattle community through a culture of participation and volunteerism.

We recognize that families have many commitments, so we do not require a certain number of volunteer hours. However, we depend on the involvement of our family community to support the many opportunities that SGS provides. Volunteer activities are designed to give everyone the chance to do something that fits their schedule and life demands—whether it’s an hour once a year or once a week, we welcome your energy and enthusiasm!

CAP plays a fundamental role in the life of SGS by coordinating a variety of community-building activities, including the SGS Back to School Pool Party, 100th Day of School Social, and Teacher Appreciation activities.

Join Us for a Meeting

Monthly meetings are scheduled on the 3rd Friday each the month from September–June, 8:30-9:30 am in the Singh House. Exceptions due to the school schedule will be noted in the school calendar and monthly newsletter. Dial-in conferencing can be arranged for those who wish to attend but cannot be there in person. Each meeting covers a specific topic of parent/guardian interest presented by an SGS in-house or external expert, includes a collaborative (and often lively!) discussion amongst the attendees, and the remaining time is spent on CAP specific activities and tasks. We hope to see you at our next meeting!
