Dr. Jill Wakefield | 2012

Dr. Jill Wakefield is Chancellor Emerita of the Seattle Colleges, a three-college system with 45,000 students. Dr. Wakefield was the first female and longest serving chancellor in the district’s history. During her career in Seattle, she worked as classified staff, faculty, and administrator in Student Affairs, Instruction, and Institutional Advancement. Dr. Wakefield is known for piloting the applied baccalaureate program in Washington State, initiating I-BEST (a nationally recognized model in which students enroll concurrently in basic skills remediation and technical education), developing a regional health care innovation and training center, re-developing an apprenticeship training/business service center, and initiating student completion initiatives. She is author of the ACCT publication, “Five Key Practices for a Successful Transition Year.”
