SGS MENTOR PROGRAM

Welcome to the Seattle Girls’ School Mentor Program!

Do you remember your middle-school experience? Who was the most influential person in your life? Looking back, do you ever wish you had someone, outside of your family and friends, to talk to, to encourage you, or maybe to open your mind to possibilities you may not have considered? As the Mentor Coordinator at Seattle Girls’ School, I’d like to invite you to consider being this person for one of our incoming sixth grade students!

The goal of the Mentor Program is to make our students “strong from the inside out” by building a village around each girl during a time when many young people search for role models outside of their immediate family. We are looking for a diverse group of female-identifying mentors to match with our incoming fifth and sixth graders. We welcome mentors from any race, religion, sexual orientation, and national or ethnic origin, as we aim to match students with adults who share these identities with them.

The unique experiences and insights that each student will gain by having a mentor will enhance her education at SGS and be a rewarding growth experience for each mentor as well.

Click the dropbox below to apply to be an SGS mentor.

Thank you for supporting Seattle Girls’ School!

Mentor Application

Mentor Application

We ask mentors to make a twice-a-month commitment of in-person time with their mentee from November to June. SGS organizes and hosts activities for one of the meetings each month, with events ranging from rock climbing to gaming, to volunteering and beyond. There are many other ways to be involved in a mentee's life outside of our formal programming, like coming to the school for lunch, attending a class culmination or bringing your mentee to work. One of our previous mentees, who has gone on to become a leader on and off campus, was asked to describe her relationship with her mentor and simply said, “She just gets me. I can ask her anything and she will still like me for me.” The unique experiences and insights that each student will gain by having a mentor will enhance her education at Seattle Girls’ School and be a rewarding growth experience for each mentor as well. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Adele at ahampton@seattlegirlsschool.org.
