SGS Family Association

Meet the SGS Family Association (SFA)

SGS welcomes and supports parental involvement, and encourages parents to partner with SGS in support of their daughter’s educational experience. This is why all SGS parents/guardians are members of the SGS Family Association (SFA). SFA is a 100% volunteer organization and exists to further the school mission by supporting the efforts of the faculty and staff, strengthening the school + family community, and extending the reach of SGS to the broader Seattle community through a culture of participation and volunteerism. We recognize that families have many commitments, so we do not require a certain number of volunteer hours. However, we depend on the involvement of our family community to support the many opportunities that SGS provides. Volunteer activities are designed to give everyone the chance to do something that fits their schedule and life demands—whether it’s an hour once a year or once a week, we welcome your energy and enthusiasm! SFA plays a fundamental role in the life of SGS by coordinating a variety of community-building activities, including the SGS Back to School BBQ, Class Socials and Service events and Teacher Appreciation activities.

Join Us for a Meeting

The SFA meets monthly, alternating evening and morning meetings to accommodate as many families as possible. Exceptions due to the school schedule will be noted in the school calendar and Friday Forum. Currently, we are continuing to meet virtually to abide by COVID mitigation rules. Links to meetings will be shared through our Friday Forum email. The structure of our meetings alternates each month between SGS Family Association (SFA) Planning and SGS Family Association (SFA) Topic Meetings.

These meetings are defined as:

  • SGS Family Association (SFA) Planning Meeting: All parents/guardians are welcome to this gathering that is primarily focused on reporting on SFA activities and planning upcoming events. Connection is always a part of SFA meetings, so there will be time for meeting and mingling with other parents/guardians.
  • SGS Family Association (SFA) Topic Meeting: All parents/guardians are welcome to this gathering that will focus on one or two topics that are on the minds of SGS families. SGS senior leadership are in attendance to provide updates, share happenings and answer questions about school programs and events. Connection is always a part of SFA meetings, so there will be time for meeting and mingling with other parents/guardians.
We hope to see you at our next meeting! Look to the Friday Forum for details on upcoming meetings.
