7th Grade Science - Chemistry

by Bre
Grab your safety goggles, our seventh grade scientists have been exploring the exciting world of chemistry! Students have investigated topics including atoms, the periodic table, and chemical/physical properties. This week we have dived into chemical reactions and how we see, feel and experience them everyday. Students started with identifying the components of chemical equations including coefficients and subscripts, and even took on the challenge of learning how to balance them! Our scientists put in the practice on the white boards, through manipulatives, and in their homework.

This has led us to our next adventure of learning the different types of chemical reactions and how we see evidence of reactions. Students got their first opportunity of many to cause a chemical reaction with a classic baking soda and vinegar mini investigation! They are itching to keep the experiments going.

7th grade students practiced balancing chemical equations through problem solving and group collaboration.
