Spring has arrived, which means 6th graders have begun preparing for the end of the year Bike Trip! Each Monday afternoon students are learning about bike mechanics, individual riding skills, group-riding skills, and what roles each student will play each week we ride. Roles include, medic, mechanic, historian, vibe keeper and more! On our weekly rides we’ll be taking part in what we call “justice rides,” where we visit important cultural and historical landmarks around the Central District and learn and celebrate their importance together. Last but not least, our collective riding and research skills will culminate in our final ride of the year on Lopez Island. Students get to spend three days and two nights visiting farms, cultural sites, camping, cooking, making smores, and playing together. It’s gonna be a blast!
Located in the Central District, Seattle Girls' School is an independent school for girls and gender nonconforming students in grades 5-8. Our mission is to inspire and develop courageous leaders who think independently, work collaboratively, learn joyfully, and champion change.
