2023 Luncheon Recap

Seattle Girls’ School hosted our 21st Annual Luncheon on Wednesday April 19th. It was an exciting day to share a little about who we are at SGS while raising money for tuition assistance. I’m excited to say that we successfully met our goal to raise $200,000! This number will continue to rise over the next few months.

At the luncheon we got to showcase our amazing SGS students in a number of ways. The program was hosted by 8th Grade students KJ T. and Violet HB. who worked very hard in the months leading up to the luncheon to write an engaging speech that demonstrated SGS’s key values. First up in the program was our Student Showcase that featured students from 6th-8th Grade (Cilan D., Etta J., Olivia D., Amelia M., Jojo F., Josie S., Lily G. , Madeline A. , Mei M., Mica W., Tavi M.) doing mini-presentations on their culmination projects. We also had 7th Grade student Divya B. join us on stage to present the Annual Grace Hopper award to Maiko Winkler-Chin. Divya wrote a very thoughtful introduction that reflected who Maiko is and why we wanted to honor her as a leader in the community. The award itself was beautifully designed by two 7th Graders Tatum V. and Sofia F. who spent months working on the design to ensure it represented both SGS and Maiko and then worked with faculty member Marcele to print the design and put it together for the day of the event.

I also want to give a big shout out to all of our SGS students who attended the event and acted as ushers and student ambassadors at their tables! It takes a lot of courage to be able to speak up and introduce yourself to new people and I’m so grateful to all of our students representing SGS. All in all, it was a very fun and successful luncheon thanks to all of the support we received from students, staffulty, volunteers, and guests. Thank you all!
