Visual Arts at SGS

Visual Arts at SGS invites students to explore who they are, how they see the world, and how they want to shape it. From sculpture and mixed media to portraiture and activism, students build artistic confidence by experimenting with materials, developing craft, and learning to reflect meaningfully on their work.

In 5th and 6th grade, students learn foundational skills in drawing, painting, and sculpture while connecting their creations to identity and inspiration. As they move into 7th and 8th grade, they take on more independent projects—designing activist art, studying color theory, and preparing for a culminating art show that celebrates their voice, process, and growth.

Every project is an opportunity to take creative risks and try something new. Students are encouraged to explore big ideas, express themselves boldly, and enjoy the process of making art that matters to them.
