5th & 6th Grades

  • Develop independence by focusing on organizing materials, managing time, setting goals, and tracking progress
  • Develop emotional intelligence, build and maintain healthy relationships, manage conflicts, foster problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Understand identities and biases, differentiate equity from equality, recognize multiple perspectives and celebrate differences, name forms of historical racism

7th Grade

  • Apply skills learned in 5th and 6th grades and practice self advocacy and self management
  • Understand leadership values and habits, practice positive self-affirming actions, learn and engage in conversations across difference with care
  • Identify and address forms of oppression, uplift marginalized voices, investigate social issues, learn different ways to take action, practice being an upstander

8th Grade

  • Prepare for high school and the world beyond SGS through further practice and applying growth mindset
  • Develop mentoring skills, practice decision making with community in mind, uplift and empower others, navigate emotions and social tensions
  • Understand power and challenge oppressive structures and systems, build consensus, take action on societal issues
Located in the Central District, Seattle Girls' School is an independent school for girls and gender nonconforming students in grades 5-8. Our mission is to inspire and develop courageous leaders who think independently, work collaboratively, learn joyfully, and champion change.
