Arts at SGS

At Seattle Girls’ School, the arts are a vital part of how students learn to express themselves, understand others, and think creatively. Whether it’s through painting, music, or filmmaking, students build skills to tell their stories and explore the world through a personal and thoughtful lens.

Through hands-on projects and collaborative work, students are encouraged to experiment, take creative risks, and reflect on what inspires them. They learn to communicate ideas visually, perform with confidence, and engage with art and media in ways that are both joyful and meaningful.

Access and Affordability

At SGS, we believe that every student should have access to the tools they need to create. That’s why all art materials—from school-loaned cameras and editing software to guitars, sketchbooks and canvases—all are provided at no extra cost. By removing barriers to participation, we make space for students to try new things, take creative risks, and discover skills they didn’t know they had.
Located in the Central District, Seattle Girls' School is an independent school for girls and gender nonconforming students in grades 5-8. Our mission is to inspire and develop courageous leaders who think independently, work collaboratively, learn joyfully, and champion change.
