Destination Moon

by Phelana
Eighth grade students are in full Mission mode and astronaut training in Science class! We kicked off the new year preparing for the Destination Moon virtual mission. In this mission led by flight directors from the Museum of Flight, four teams (mapping, engine, tracking, and structure) worked collaboratively and communicated to virtually launch the New Glenn rocket and land the Blue Moon lunar lander on the moon.

With the successful completion of that training mission, our candidates are now learning more science skills in preparation for the SGS Mission on February 17. These include learning about and doing labs in chromatography, fingerprint analysis, and a dissection, including ethical considerations. Needless to say, our 8th graders are working hard to prepare for their mission!
