6th Grade Science Update

Fall term in 6th grade science is focused on the brain. We looked closely at the physical structures, their functions, and specifically how each part is crucial to the learning process. We are working off the idea that if we can understand how the brain processes information then we can better use our brain to our advantage! We have discussed learning styles, foods that support brain function, and the idea of neuroplasticity. The brain is not fixed, you aren’t born with certain knowledge that never changes. If you practice anything enough, your brain will grow new pathways and you will improve!

In order to prove this idea, students selected any sort of activity to practice for 15min each day for a week straight. Students will analyze their quantitative and qualitative data to determine if they made new neural connections and created new or stronger pathways!
