Meet the Director of Enrollment Management: Diana Algomeda

Can you tell us a little about your background and what brought you to SGS?
I’m a two-time Husky, having earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Washington. I have always loved working with young people, whether that’s supporting high school and college students or helping out at my mom’s daycare. A friend couldn’t stop talking about how special SGS was, so I had to see it for myself. Once I learned about the school’s mission and met its incredible students, I knew I wanted to be here.

What excites you most about working in enrollment at SGS?
I’m excited to be part of a girls and gender-inclusive environment where middle schoolers can truly shine. This is such a pivotal time in a student’s life, and I love the idea of helping them feel confident, supported, and inspired. I also can’t wait to share all the amazing things happening here with prospective families, because once you experience the energy of this place, it’s impossible not to fall in love with it.

How do you approach helping families find the “right fit” school?
For me, it starts with truly getting to know families and making myself available throughout the process. I want every student to be in an environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. My goal is to build genuine connections and to help families find a place where they will feel supported, challenged, and joyful.

What have been your first impressions of the SGS community?
From the very first tour, I was blown away by the poise and leadership of the student ambassadors. It honestly made me wonder how much I could have accomplished if I’d had those skills at their age! And then there’s the warmth, every single person I met was genuinely welcoming, which made the whole interview process feel less like a formality and more like meeting future teammates.

As you know, our mascot is Tenacity the Bee. What’s something in your life that you’re especially tenacious about?
Like Tenacity the Bee, once I land on an idea, I buzz with energy until it’s done. I approach new projects with positivity, find creative solutions, rally the hive to make it happen, and keep going no matter the challenges. Even when things don’t go as planned, I see it as a chance to learn something new.
